Hands of Mercy
transforming lives in Zimbabwe
Keith, Kathy and their team are doing amazing work in looking after orphans and those suffering from HIV/AIDS, as well as networking and organising churches and other orginisations to do the same.
The ministry is based at Riverbank which is a property close to Ruwa (east of Harare). The property runs like a community and, for my money, this is a small example of the presence of kingdom of God in Zimbabwe!
On the property they grow food, and herbs for medicine and there is a Shona (the main tribe in that part of Zimbabwe) church based there led by Pastor Mudede. From this church they reach out to the rural areas around them and run a feeding program for the children there.
We are privileged to know them as friends and to be able to support their work in some small ways and send teams out to help and learn from them and their lives.

The children under the care at Riverbank (Jan 2009):
TOP ROW (L-R) - Cecilia, Ima, Chenjaerai, Dylan, Lester, Tapewa#
FRONT ROW (L-R) - Fadzai, Shylet (with Patrick on lap), Nyasha (with Panache on lap), Charlie*, Addo, Anesu, Matt, Carise+, Abigail#.
*Charlie is the son of Costa who is the foreman at Riverbank.
+Carise is Kathy & Keith's daughter.
#Abigail and Tapewa are the Children of Pastor and Mrs Mudede, who lead the church based at Riverbank.

Manesu (19) and Matilda (17). Two of the older girls. Both are going to college to learn dress making to give them a livelihood for the future. These two help to supervise the younger children at Riverbank.
This year, Manesu is hoping to marry. Keith has set the dowry at one sewing machine and 100m of material which will be given to her and give her a start to be self-sustaining and in business.
All the care of the children at teh Riverbank community reflects an approach of providing long-term sustainability, and training the children for life. The result is that the children will leave here equipped and with a headstart in life.

Tobias (middle) and Jubilant and their family. These guys run the feeding program as part of the Riverbank outreach in the rural areas. The food is grown at their property and they provide hot meals for children from the vacinity.

God's sense of humour!
Keith "Del-boy" Duvenage has always made us laugh with
his wheeling and dealing so imagine my sheer delight when I arrived in Jan 09 to see his newly aquired bright yellow, three-wheeler van! (spot the difference)
